The book tells the story of Jacinta, a girl who loses her mother very suddenly and becomes responsible for taking care of her family. She always tries to find a loving and fun way to entertain her brothers, often through unique stories. Jacinta laughs with her brothers and father when he manages to get home from work early and they have dinner together. Jacinta is a strange little animal, in a world where other children have mothers. Jacinta does not have a guardian angel, but a woman who travels on a blue horse and always watches over her.
