For three centuries, millions of Africans were forced to leave their lands to work as slaves in Colonial America. Brazil received most of them, around five million individuals. The immense African contribution arising from this was not limited only to the material world, but significantly influenced art, language, religiosity, family and life in Brazil. This black diaspora resulted in an innovative experience, mixing races and generating a new people on the American continent.
